WHO
WE SERVE
As
a non-discriminating organization, Gaia makes every reasonable
attempt to serve all segments of society. Our primary focus, however,
is to serve the medically underserved of all ages, which is comprised
of the following groups:
-
Unserved:
Gaia is the primary care provider for some individuals,
including homeless and indigent. These patients do not receive
any other out-patient health care.
-
Senior
Citizens: Individuals 60 years of age and older.
-
Working
poor: Individuals who are employed; working to help themselves
in an attempt to avoid use of public assistance programs.
These people cannot afford health insurance coverage for their
families; yet, they earn too much to be eligible for public
health insurance programs.
-
Medically
Underserved: This group, which includes those already
described, consists of TWO-THIRDS of the American population. Some
of these patients may have a primary care provider. However,
these individuals may have a variety of health problems or
health care needs that are not met by their primary care provider
or covered by their insurance, for a variety of reasons.
